We're sending out a plea for funding for some surprise urgent needs we have been working on in between our regularly-scheduled urgent needs :D

First, we started with a cat spay/neuter clinic with Foothills Spay/Neuter Clinic on April 23. We provided spay and neuter surgery for 31 cats, including 22 owned cats and 9 feral (community cats).

Then, on April 26, we hosted a free vaccination clinic, providing vaccinations for 124 dogs and 62 cats.

During that same weekend, along with our friends from Homeward Trails, who came to pitch in and help us pull double duty, we provided Trap-Neuter-Return to 54 cats from two colonies and rescued 17 dogs and cats!

On April 30, we sent 5 puppies and 1 mama cat and her kittens plus 11 additional cats and kittens off to rescue, on 2 separate transports, with one of our volunteers driving 10 cats that were rescued from 2 different hoarding locations all the way to Richmond and back in one day!

And on May 1, we started trapping in a trailer park colony with over 100 cats that we discovered the previous weekend. On May 2, two volunteers drove the first 30 cats to Mountain View Humane in Christiansburg.

Volunteers are continuing to trap through the weekend and early next week to fill appointments made available by Carroll Veterinary Clinic in order to try and make sure all of the cats (and dogs!) in this trailer park are taken care of. We also took 9 cats and kittens from this location into foster care today so that we can find them indoor forever homes (thanks to Jennifer Roberts for hosting some of the older kitties).

That's 350 animals rescued, saved, and helped during the past 10 days alone!

And all of that is in between the regular services we provide – at no cost to the citizens of the Twin Counties! We are an all-volunteer rescue group and we rely on donors to help us get all of this work done, to help the animals of the Twin Counties and the owners and caretakers who love them.

Please consider donating to help us continue to help the animals of the Twin Counties, including funding for the remaining animals in the recently-discovered 100+ cat colony. We so appreciate everything that our friends at Homeward Trails do for dogs and cats here in the Twin Counties; however, they are working in many areas of Southwest Virginia and have not raised enough funds to cover all of the needs in this colony, including TNR and medical care for these cats, or other cats in the Twin Counties. Therefore, we continue to raise funds to help cover this unexpected urgent expense!

Thank you!
