$500 goal

At Crescentia Vacations we support leisure, joy, and vacations for low-income and low-wealth people, with as few barriers to access as possible. We reject the notion that people must somehow earn their right to rest or vacation; we believe everyone deserves leisure.

Our primary goal is to make leisure and vacationing accessible to all - through direct resources for leisure and all-inclusive vacations. We serve low-income and low-wealth individuals, with an intentional focus on those whose identities or needs place them at the nexus of being historically excluded from leisure, while also at risk of being targeted while traveling (such as women, Indigenous Americans, LGBTQ+ people, Black folks, those with disabilities, solo travelers, etc). We are one of the few - if not the only - US non-profit organizations that provide direct resources explicitly for leisure and joy.

Founded in late 2022 out of a conversation in which our Senior Director Jessica McDonough expressed her frustration as a single, blind, woman, on a fixed income, about the seeming impossibility for her to ever go on a leisure vacation - because of resources, safety concerns, and disability accommodation needs. Our goals are to not only address the immediate need for leisure and rest for historically excluded people, but also to shift the conversation on leisure entirely  through educational programs and community research projects to establish and promote the tangible health benefits of rest and relaxation.

At Crescentia we believe it is essential for all people to rest and enjoy themselves and their families with leisure time, and we are trying to build a world that understands and supports that today.
