Where I'm at
Hey friends and family! :) Guess what!? Chicken butt, ha ha.. jk. It has been about 2 months since I started raising money for my trip to Vietnam. I have raised more than $700 so far!!! $230 from donations through Mightycause, (which if you feel led you can still totally help support ;) I would appreciate $10 even $5, because you know how the saying goes, every penny counts!) Thank you so much to those that have donated!! I have earned about $450 ish from baking with the help of my awesome grandma, Alice Browning, who made some cookie cakes. Love you Gma, I appreciate all the hard work you did for me <3 My banana bread was the most popular and reason for earning so much on my end lol I am still willing to bake and sell BANANA BREAD if people are interested, just let me know! I am selling them for $10 :) I also earned about $150 ish from nannying/babysitting. Though it was a lot of hard work I had to put into raising for this great opportunity, it wouldn't have been possible without trusting that God will provide. Keeping that in mind and praying gives me peace. I wasn't even planning to nanny, but that opportunity fell into my lap!! How amazing is He! Anyways I just wanted to update everyone and would still appreciate all prayers for this trip and prayers for everyone who is planning on going. Love y'all!! <3
Hey y’all!
Thank you in advance for taking the time to hear my story of what God is doing in my life and how you can support me along this journey!
To start, I’ve always identified myself as a Christian most of my life. I grew up in the church, went through the motions, but have never been a TRUE follower of Christ. I know I’m still young, but it feels like I’ve been on this long journey of learning who God TRULY is and believing His plans are what’s best for me, NOT my own. I’ve been fickle, distracted by things of the flesh, the world and really just struggling with my commitment to fully surrender to God the past few years. After all of that I’ve recently had a freedom of finally doing just that. It was slowly creeping up on me of how much I NEED Him and one day it just hit me. I am so so grateful that He has been patient with me in my ups and downs. As will continue to do so!
Since then I have been doing whatever I feel led to do to be closer to Him. I really want to grow in my walk with God and am SO excited to see His plans unfold. I am also excited for the changes He will work in me through this journey. I want to be the best follower I can, and would love for y’all to help me with that and hold me accountable in all aspects in my walk.
With that, God has presented an amazing opportunity to go on a Mission trip. I would love to serve the people of Bac Ha Vietnam with a team from Alamo Community Church this coming Spring 2020, March 5-15. Alamo Community Church has had the opportunity to visit and serve twice a year for the past couple of years to Vietnam. The trip will consist of a team that will serve based on the strengths and qualities we can bring to the table. Please be in prayer for the team that is coming together as well as our travels, safety, health, heart, and goals for this mission.
I don’t know what to expect. I’m nervous, but one thing I’m certain and excited about is what this experience can not only do for me, but the team, the church and the people being served. I have never been abroad, let alone for a mission trip! However, I love helping people in any way I can, as I have volunteered in many ways my whole life. If you feel led to help support me with this opportunity, it would be greatly appreciated. The cost includes all transportation, lodging, meals, team activities, visa fees and insurance cost. I would also love and appreciate y'alls prayers for me going forward. If there are any questions please feel free to reach out to me!
Again, thank you all so much for taking the time to read this and hear my story and the great opportunity God has placed in my life.
Xoxo, Lauren
