Hey family & friends,
This summer, I will be going on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic with a team of students from Gordon College!
Over the past decade, teams of Gordon College students have developed a relationship with La Iglesia Bautista Cristo para las Naciones, a Haitian church in the Dominican Republic. This year, we are again planning a trip to continue building our relationships with the community, and the work we previously started. In addition to partnering with our brothers and sisters in Christ through service, we hope to learn about their unique situation as Haitian immigrants in the DR, and the effects that our decisions in the United States have upon their lives.
From May 25-June 8, 2020, we will travel to the Dominican Republic to serve and learn alongside Haitians and Dominicans. We will partner with Colegio Moriah to work on construction needs while building in recreational activities with the community throughout the week. We will have the opportunity to work with Dominicans and Haitians who are working towards cultural reconciliation and redeeming their community. In addition, we will have the opportunity to gain a broader perspective of the Dominican culture by spending the end of our trip with TIME Ministries, which seeks to share the gospel with an impoverished town outside of Santo Domingo.
Personally, missions trips have touched my life in crazy ways, and though there for a short time, God uses us as Christians to spread the gospel to all nations, planting seeds of His Word.
The cost of the trip is $2,300 per person to cover the cost of travel, construction materials, food and housing. We would like to ask for your help in raising this money and would appreciate your gift in any amount.
Most importantly, we ask for your prayers leading up to and throughout the duration of our trip. We specifically ask that you pray for safe travels, team unity, the community we will be working with, and for the Lord to stretch and teach all who are involved.
Blessings,
Sarah Bernatowicz
