History of the Vince Munafo Memorial ...

In June 2021, ProLink Staffing celebrated 10 years in business.  During those 10 years, Tony & Mike Munafo, ProLink founders/owners supported COJ's mission in many ways. They always did what they could, with what they had.  It was important to them to be there for COJ founder/ED, (their mom) Sheila Munafo-Kanoza; who was their rock when their father Vince died in 1993.

Last year also marked the 7th year for COJ's golf outing. Originating as an idea of Mike's, he hoped to generate funding for COJ, and also raise awareness of the importance and need for grief support. Together with family and friends, the "COJ Classic" was born and has grown to become the largest single fundraising event benefiting COJ's mission.

As ProLink celebrated 10 years of growth & COJ prepared to celebrate its 25th year of service, COJ staff members believed it was a perfect time to offer Tony & Mike an opportunity to celebrate and honor their father, by renaming the COJ Classic in his name.

The Vince Munafo Memorial was introduced

and a commitment was made~

To continue to invite family and friends to MAKE the time to join together,

despite busy schedules.

To celebrate and share the stories of our past;

honor the memories of ones we love who left us too soon;  and

make new memories while we laugh, compete, and

have a really good time!

Vince Munafo Memorial Supporter's Pledge

Our goal is to pay it forward to all who grieve,

To give as generously as we can, with what we have.

To always remember that life is about the people and not the stuff!

And to remember and honor Vince's Legacy, as he is the reason

We all found our way here, as true Companions on a Journey.

Still Not sure how a day of golfing can help?

Read on to learn a little more about the many faces of grief.

The Need is Great!  Last year, 49% of students who participated in COJ school-based support groups had experienced the death of a parent, and 58% had suffered the death of an immediate family member (parent or sibling).

In Ohio, it’s estimated that 1 in 10 children and teens will experience the death of a parent or sibling by their 18th birthday.

What does adult grief look like and how does COJ help? Find out from Debbie Heidrich, COJ's 2020 Russell Penevaria Circle of Hope Honoree

This is where YOU and I come in.

Through OUR generous support of Companions on a Journey, we can provide bereaved children, teens and adults with a safe space to process feelings of grief and loss, connect with a caring community of peers, and strengthen critical wellness and resiliency skills.
