The Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley is in its 25th year of serving all wildlife in Santa Clara County. WCSV is a 501(c)3 non-profit that relies almost solely on donations to carry out its mission of rehabilitating and releasing wildlife back into their environment to once again thrive! So far this year, we have received over 5500 animals from 160 different species. WCSV operates with only four animal care staff in peak season and over 250 volunteers. We could not do what we do for the animals without the dedication of our volunteers and generosity of our donors.

In 2005, WCSV received a grant to build its first predatory mammal enclosure by volunteers. In 2010, we constructed a second enclosure. For over 10 years, we have been known for our exceptional predatory mammal work, and the high-quality care we provide is extremely expensive. Rehabilitating predatory mammals requires a lot of space and costly resources, including food costs, facility maintenance, and enrichment stimuli. This year we received more orphaned predatory mammals (foxes, coyotes and bobcats) than we have in all WCSV’s history. When animals are admitted this young, they need to One coyote, among several, that we raised and released this year.stay with us for an extended period before they are ready for release.

Many mammals have recuperated in the enclosures this year, which adds up to a lot of wear and tear. This Giving Tuesday we are raising funds to make much needed repairs to our mammal enclosures.

Here's how your donation helps animals:

$25 - Supplies 4 new hammocks in our mammal enclosures

Our predatory mammals, especially the bobcats, love their hammocks - which means we go through a lot!

$50 - 1 week of formula for 1 orphaned raccoon

An orphaned raccoon being bottle-fed a specialized formula. We go through 25 pounds of raccoon formula a month during the busy season!

$100 - Feeds 3 juvenile bobcats for 1 week

All of our predatory mammals receive species-specific, balanced diets, which is made possible through food and monetary donations!

$250 - Repairs part of a fence for an enclosure

Dozens of predatory mammals recover in our outdoor enclosures every year, which means we must regularly replace fencing and other materials.

$500 - Fully repairs a pond for a single enclosure

We use a system of ponds/water troughs, as seen on the right side of this image, to offer enrichment and hydration, and these require maintenance and upkeep to keep them running smoothly.

It is critical for these patients to have optimal space to rehabilitate, and have the best chance of living a wild life once again. Please help us make this happen.
