Greetings from the Olympia Robotics Federation, team 4450! 🖖
The Olympia Robotics Federation is a high school student-led organization based in Olympia Washington that uses robotics as a tool to encourage youth to become science and technology leaders. The team is comprised of students from all three high schools in the Olympia School District. Every year members compete in the FIRST program's high school division, the First Robotics Competition's new game. The team has 8 weeks (the build season) to construct a robot capable of competing in the league, typically weighing well over a hundred pounds. Â
Due to our team's talents and efforts, we have become a world-class team that made it to the World Championship based on both robot and societal merits. After over a decade of work this season, ORF 4450 was awarded the Impact Award the most prestigious award achievable in FIRST at regionals. Â Following that, ORF earned a spot at the PNW District Championships. There we competed against the top fifty teams in the district placed as the 3rd ranked alliance captain, and earned the Judges Award. Once again, surpassing all the odds, ORF has made it to the World Championships for a second consecutive year.
To send a team of 25 members it costs well over thirty-thousand dollars to pay for airfare, hotel stay, and external costs. To go on this trip the Olympia Robotics Federation needs funding and would be eternally grateful for any type of donation.
UPDATE:Â
ORF had a fantastic time at the Houston World Championships, being chosen by the fourth-ranked alliance in the Johnson division. Â ORF 4450 won our first award ever at Worlds, being awarded the Imagery Award in memory of Dean Kamen's (Founder of FIRST) father.
Live Long and Prosper,
ORF 4450
