Wyatt Larew

Transplant Type: Kidney

Update: Wyatt received a transplant on June 26, 2019!

Wyatt Larew is awaiting a new lease on life. Six years ago, he was diagnosed with IGA nephropathy. His diagnosis came as a shock, as there is no family history of kidney disease. Six months ago, he began dialysis, which leaves him tired and takes a toll on his quality of life. Doctors say a kidney transplant is critical. Before Wyatt can receive a transplant, his transplant center is requiring him to raise more than $20,000 to cover some of his costs.

During this difficult time, Wyatt is thankful for the love and support of his wife, Trudy, and their family and friends. Wyatt and Trudy have two children, ages 5 and 15. Wyatt’s illness prevents him from being the active husband and father he longs to be. His family worries so much about him, and it is difficult for his children to watch their father’s health decline.

Wyatt looks forward to receiving a transplant that will free him from dialysis and allow him to be more active again. He used to enjoy water sports, hunting, and hiking, but his health prevents him from doing those things now. Once his struggles are behind him, Wyatt would like to go back to school and become a lawyer. He sees now just how limited time can be and wants to use his second chance at life to make positive changes for his family and fellow citizens. He wants nothing more than to be healthy again so he can live life to the fullest and watch his children grow up. But right now, he needs your help.

The average kidney transplant costs more than $442,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, Wyatt still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Wyatt lives 106 miles from his transplant center and has to travel back and forth for appointments. When he receives his transplant, he will have to stay nearby while he recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Wyatt’s health and dialysis schedule prevent him from working, further adding to his financial burdens.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Wyatt. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Texas Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Wyatt Larew” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
