Wyland's Fundraiser for NEMS

During the month of May, North East Medical Services (NEMS) is participating in Give In May, a national campaign to support organizations serving the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community during AAPI Heritage Month. Funds raised will support NEMS Employee Wellness & Appreciation programs.

NEMS is one of the largest community health centers in the United States targeting the medically underserved Asian population. As a NEMS team member, I take great pride in being able to serve our vulnerable patients and community every day!

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, our staff have been working tirelessly on the frontlines; from delivering medications to elderly patients, hosting COVID-19 testing events throughout underserved communities, to providing at-home testing and survival kits to families living in congregate housing facilities – they are truly healthcare heroes!

Although COVID-19 cases have declined, the new Omicron BA.2 variant is beginning to grow in parts of the U.S. and is believed to be increasing in multiple countries. Our staff continue to remain on the frontlines, and this has undoubtedly resulted in staff burnout, retention and hiring challenges, decreased operational capacity, etc.
