Emerging Community Media Leaders

If we want the mission of community media to grow and endure the next twenty years, we need a next generation of community media leadership.

And we can grow that generation of emerging leaders with your help.  

We know that community media will face new challenges and opportunities as technologies, legal frameworks and communities may profoundly change.  On top of this, a generation of leaders in our field will retire and pass the torch of leadership to others.  

We think it's essential the we nurture and empower emerging leaders to meet the challenges we face.    We know this from our work - It's our superpower in community media - We support others. 

The Community Media Emerging Leaders Institute is a two-day immersive workshop, which will be conducted directly before the Alliance for Community Media National Conference on July 8 and 9, 2019 in Portland OR.   

The Institute will be led by Paula Manley and Toni Tabora-Roberts, two leaders with a deep track record of success building organizations and leaders in local community media.    It will take a strengths-based and inclusive approach,  designed to enable individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives in community media to come together as a community of learners and to strengthen participants’ leadership capacities and support their leadership journeys.

Your tax deductible donation to the ACM Foundation will expand our training and support of young leaders at the Institute.    In past years, gifts to the Foundation supported two scholarships to the National Conference to increase opportunities for leadership.  

Now - with your help - we will expand that opportunity seven-fold and support fourteen emerging leaders with leadership training  and provide half of that class of scholars full support to attend the Conference in Portland.   

And if we raise $4K by January 1  we will release a $1500 match from other Foundation donors.
