As a former resident of St. Louis, Missouri, USA, I have witnessed the oppressive and colonial conditions forced upon the Northside African / Black community. They include food apartheid (euphemistically called “food deserts”), a lack of resources, and underemployment.
The African People's Education & Defense Fund (APEDF) develops and institutionalizes programs, such as Uhuru Foods and Pies, to defend the human and civil rights of the African community, and to address the grave disparities in education, health, healthcare, and economic development faced by African people.
“Uhuru” means “Freedom” in Swahili. Uhuru Foods and Pies creates Black community control of food, food production, and food distribution, building self-determination. APEDF is bringing healthy, delicious, reasonably priced food and employment into the heart of the most impoverished area of north St. Louis.
Authors who donate and send me a screenshot of their donation will receive their choice of one (1) free custom book blurb OR one (1) free beta / alpha read OR three (3) free book coaching sessions OR 25% off any one (1) editing or book service.
