October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜
With the onset of COVID and downturn in our local economy, Faith House has been presented with many challenges this year. Domestic violence and homicides have risen to record levels. We are at capacity and are having to find alternative safe shelter for survivors and children seeking to escape their abuser so community support is GREATLY needed at this time. We are seeking funds to be used directly for operating expenses. Faith House provides shelter, safety, empowerment, and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence.
We are a domestic violence crisis center and shelter, based in Lafayette, Louisiana. We serve seven parishes throughout Central and South Louisiana, including Lafayette, Vermilion, Acadia, St. Landry, Evangeline, Rapides, and Avoyelles.
In 2016, Faith House opened the Family Justice Center of Acadiana. The Family Justice Center model is a national model that creates collaboration among local organizations and agencies to enhance and improve the local response to domestic violence cases and decrease mortality. We are excited to be able to provide such a comprehensive service to our community by providing easy access to law enforcement, legal services, counseling, and support services all under one roof.
