Youth Court Training! Thank you to all of our community members who have helped support our youth volunteers.
Restorative Youth Court is a diversionary program for youth who have been charged with a misdemeanor offense for the first time. The Mediation Center's area of focus is preventive practices to divert youth from contact with the juvenile justice system.
The rationale behind bringing a peer court program to Chatham County is to support the youth in our community, non-system (youth volunteers) and system (respondents) involved. The court practices restorative justice to promote behavioral change and reduce recidivism.
Your donations will help cover the cost of the training materials for our youth volunteers, who will be the judge, bailiff, and jury during the Youth Court hearings.
