More Teachers

MUSICA! provides training for string players of all ages in the Hemet/San Jacinto/Idyllwild area on a sliding scale and shared cost basis. We believe that the discipline and practice of music making enhances our lives and our ability to learn. Making music together serves to enrich our community and the world. 

MUSICA!  is a non-profit organization under the umbrella of the Diamond Valley Arts Council. It relies on private donations and grants to provide the matching funds for its costs. San Jacinto and Hemet USD provides sustaining funds for  BRIDGE/ECHO  MUSICA! is a founding member of the National Alliance of El Sistema Inspired Programs, El Sistema USA  

MUSICA! runs four programs
Inland Valley Youth Orchestra

• BRIDGE/ECHO  after school string classes
• Inland Valley Youth Orchestra
• Summer Strings Academy
• Master Classes and workshops

70% of students in our orchestras and Summer Academy receive some form of scholarship aid. The BRIDGE/ECHO program is free for all students 

Our region is designated by the California Arts Council as being "rural" because it is more than 25 miles from any major arts hub; museum, performance complex or university campus.  We are proud to employ six string teaching artists  who perform and and teach professionally. Our teachers teach students the sanctuary of making music, the  skills that  promote expression and joy in making music and they inspire students   to be life long  creative musicians.  We are so lucky because this kind of dedication is not easy to find. 

Our teachers come from a distance to this community where unemployment is high, and students are exposed to the problems of gang violence, drug abuse, mental health issues and teen pregnancy. They  teach expecting excellence from all our students. They create community pride in  music making.
