LGBTQIA+ Support Needed - Solano Serenity Center

It is the mission of Solano Serenity Center (SSC) to promote aceptance and provide a safe haven to those who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender/Gender Non-conforming, Queer/Questioning, Asexual, Intersex and their Allies.  SSC partners with many local and regional non-profits to serve this disadvantaged community through educational workshops, counseling, community events, and participation in numerous outreach activities throughout the U.S.  

In the current COVID-19 environment, SSC is providing much needed support to our vulnerable population by providing meals, medical supplies, transportation, and support to LGBTQIA+ individuals.  We have received some recent support through other grant funds, but we would like to make an even larger impact now and in the future.  All outreach and support services provided to our LGBTQIA+ community have been funded historically through private donations and direct support from SSC's board members.

In addition, SSC needs support to continue with its ongoing advocacy and educational workshops throughout the U.S. to schools and public agencies.  These groups require better information about the needs of LGBTQIA+ individuals.  SSC is committed to addressing discrimination and bringing awareness on the tragic events that plague this community.  Annually, SSC holds their Transgender Day of Remembrance (TdoR) event in Vallejo, California.  This event has been recognized by local government officials with a City proclamation of this annual event in the month of November.  SSC seeks funding to continue to expand this event to include more regional partners and keynote speakers to reach a larger audience throughout California.

Current services provided by SSC include education, outreach,  transportation, food pantry, advocacy, and counseling services, including pre/post op support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
