Yavapai Exploration and Science (YES!) began with one simple question:“What if every child had a place to explore their curiosity?”

After 15 years in the classroom, Amanda Voss saw how powerful hands-on, joyful learning could be — but also how many children were missing out. Some didn’t have access to after-school programs. Others needed more than traditional education could offer. So in 2023, Amanda founded YES! — a nonprofit dedicated to making STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning accessible to all families in Yavapai County.

From pop-up labs in parks to outreach at local libraries, YES! quickly grew — reaching over 12,000 community members in just two years. Kids explored the science of sound, built spinning zoetropes, made their own ice cream, and asked big questions. They built confidence, curiosity, and community. YES! was voted Best Learning Center in Yavapai, and Amanda was named Prescott’s 2024 STEAM Teacher of the Year.

But as the demand for programming surged, one thing became clear: YES! needed a home. A place where families could return again and again. A space to host year-round programs, homeschool support, and weekend events. A center designed for discovery.

That’s why we’ve launched our first-ever capital campaign — to purchase and renovate a permanent space where YES! can grow with the children and families we serve.

We’ve always said YES! to curiosity. Now, we’re asking you to say YES! to the future.
