I was recently laid off and have had trouble paying my bills.

Your organization helped me, and for this I'd like to say ‘Thank You.’

—a Mission client

Serving over 300 Giles County families in 2019, the Giles County Christian Service Mission distributed $45,720 in food from the pantry.  Through the Voucher Program, the Mission supplied over $57,000 in clothing, housewares, and diapers to qualified individuals and families.  The Mission is also home to the Giles County Angel Tree Ministry for Giles children and teens through which over 300 angels were provided with gifts and clothing at Christmastime.  The Mission works closely with New River Community Action whose Giles County office is located onsite.

In addition to our regular Food Box program, the Mission works in partnership with Feeding America to distribute senior food boxes to 105 qualifying seniors each month.  These boxes  are an important supplemental source of food for Giles seniors on fixed incomes who struggle with food insecurity.

The Mission offers a wide variety of clothing, household items, and furniture for sale to the general public.  The Thrift Store  is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m.  The Mission is funded by sales from our Thrift Store, grants, and gifts from generous individuals, churches, businesses, and service organizations.

When you shop at the Giles County Christian Service Mission, all the proceeds from the sales goes back into the Giles County Community!  You can help by donating clothing or household items, shopping in our store, or sharing your time as a volunteer.

Our ministries include:

  • Senior Food Boxes
  • Voucher Program
  • Giles County Angel Tree
  • Food Pantry
  • Emergency Housing & Utility Assistance

Earlier this spring, the Mission was able to acquire the adjacent property of 512 Wenonah Avenue.  The goal of our Feed the Need! campaign is to generate the $10,000 needed to renovate this space and develop it into a new Food Pantry area.  This would double the size of our current Food Pantry and offer us the means to assist additional Giles families.
