Yolanda Lanier is fighting for her life. In 2018, she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Her diagnosis came as a shock, as lung disease does not run in her family. Yolanda’s lung function has declined since her diagnosis, and she sometimes requires the assistance of supplemental oxygen in order to breathe. Doctors say a lung transplant is critical for her survival. Before she can receive a transplant, her transplant center is requiring her to raise funds.

During such a challenging time, Yolanda is thankful for the love and support of her family and friends. She is a single mother of two daughters and has two grandchildren. Her health prevents her from being the active mother and grandmother she longs to be. Yolanda looks forward to receiving a transplant that will allow her to breathe freely and have a normal life again. She used to enjoy gardening, going to the beach, playing with her grandchildren, and going for walks, but her health now prevents her from doing those things. Yolanda wants nothing more than to feel better and enjoy life with her family. But right now, she needs your help.

The average lung transplant costs more than $785,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the cost of the transplant, she faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
