URGENT: Help YVAC and partners raise funds to help young people facing housing & food insecurity!

$20,000 goal

Amidst a global pandemic, civil turmoil, and season changes:  All across the country young people are being faced with severe economic disparities— Issues ranging from the lack of affordable housing & displacement from campuses, food insecurity, unemployment, Covid-19, and so much more. Young people should not be forced to navigate these harsh systems alone. In schools in Pittsburgh, Detroit, Miami & Huntsville schools rarely have access to feed the entire student body. We’re flooded with testimonies of previously incarcerated youth struggling to re-engage with the economics of society. We've heard stories of kids coming home from school unfed. Stories of international students fighting for housing stability on college campuses and placing their visa at jeopardy. Loads of young adults not having access to fair paying jobs. And students at HBCUs encountering homelessness because of school conditions or lack of long term housing.

YVAC provides a variety of direct mutual aid services for the communities that we work in.

So many young people we encounter in our conversations across communities are suffering from the effects of poverty, food insecurity, housing instability, and struggles receiving education.

Those community members who are in need of are our intentional focus. We are in the process of raising $20K to distribute mutual aid in the form of Direct Cash Assistance to Young People encountering financial difficulties. We understand the damaging effects that poverty can have on young people. We also worked with local property owners in Huntsville, AL, to provide temporary housing for students displaced from school during break.
