The Crisis Continuum provides emergency foster care placement services for youth who are in immediate need of support to reach stability.
#MAACgoesBeyond by offering Crisis Continuum services 24/7, wherever and whenever needed! Our care coordinators regularly put in hours on weekends and after office hours to make sure each youth receives a face-to-face meeting within 24 hours of being placed - as well as addressing all of their immediate needs within an urgent time frame, including clothes, medications, and other essentials. Each youth's Coordinator also supports scheduling all follow-ups, such as medical, dental, and psychiatric appointments.
Many youth served have experienced severe abuse and trauma, so receiving therapeutic services is key to being able to stay in a placement and be successful. The Crisis Continuum has built lasting relationships with service providers to ensure that all youth referred have access to the right resources at the right time. This results in fewer placement moves, which has a ripple effect on their overall well being.
A story from the Crisis Continuum:
Sophie came into foster care when she was just two years old, and is now still in care as a teenager. Due to her difficult history, she had experienced behavioral challenges and over seven placements, including involvement in the juvenile justice system. When she entered the Crisis Continuum, her coordinator offered her the opportunity to set goals and turn her path around. She was able to be connected to the LEADS program, as well as meeting weekly with her Crisis Continuum Coordinator. Through the support she received, she began to improve her coping skills, take interest in positive activities, and became an outstanding member of the ROTC program at her school. She is now a HS Junior on track to graduate in 2021, and plans to join the United States military as a result of her time in ROTC. Because of Crisis Continuum, Sophie is able to envision her future in a totally new way and has a stable place to call home.
By donating to support MAAC, you can help us go #Beyond for Crisis Continuum youth by providing additional services, such as:
- Behavior aide to help youth self-regulate, manage behaviors, and develop coping skills as part of their recovery (approx. $40/hour)
- Respite placements to provide support and relief to the family (approx. $140/day)
- Appropriate clothing to replace lost belongings in the urgent move (varies based on need; anywhere from $100-400/youth)
