Vulnerable communities across the nation are facing the severity of COVID-19 with fear for their health, safety, and financial stability. Resettled refugee families, overwhelmed by the range of challenges before them, have been compounded by already-existing socioeconomic and cultural barriers characteristic to the resettlement experience. As a result of COVID-19, refugee families lack awareness about available resources, are inundated with misinformation via social media and internet, fear going outside to access free meals and supplies or to purchase them, and suffer from financial strain due to lack of work and children at home.
During this time of crisis and emergency, the Refugee Dream Center has maintained our presence in and support of the refugee community. We have encouraged social-distancing, provided refugee families with basic necessities, and disseminated accurate information about COVID-19 via phone calls, text, and social media. The Refugee Dream Center has upheld its commitment to linking refugees to services that will best meet their needs, especially during this especially taxing period. Your donation will help us continue our unwavering presence and support for the refugee communities in Rhode Island!
