Coming from a family where sports were the center of everything, Zane spent most of his time from childhood through high school going from season to season playing baseball, basketball, and football.  He went on to play football at the University of Utah where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.  After his college career, he was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2010.  After four years in Denver he went on to play for the Jaguars, 49ers, and Falcons before retiring after a nine year career in the NFL.  Zane and his wife Meredith welcomed twins shortly after he retired in 2019.  Zane can confidently say that being dad to Luke and Leighton is the coolest thing he’s ever been.  Zane is now pursuing an MBA while helping to build a real estate investment company so he’s not kicking his feet up after retiring from his first career.

Why SN?

After saying over and over during my football career that “I can’t wait to be done playing so I can lose weight,” it has proven to be more difficult than I expected.  While I am about 20lbs lighter than my playing weight, I still have more I want to lose.  I want to prove to myself that I can accomplish something as difficult as Stark Naked and set myself down a path of good healthy habits for the rest of my life.  Living at 300+ pounds for 15 years was not always fun so I can’t wait to see how my body feels when I am a healthier weight.  I can’t think of better motivation than some competition and photos in my undies for the world to see.

Why CASA?

I have always believed that our country is the best place on earth where someone can start their life at one point and elevate themselves to whatever point they desire.  However, the opportunities and exposure to what is possible is not proportionally distributed.  I can’t think of a better example of this than when kids, by no fault of their own, are dealt a hand in life with no safety, support, and caring from those around them who should be the ones encouraging them to dream big and reach for their goals.  CASA provides kids like these, who have been put into the foster care system, an advocate who genuinely cares for them and their well being.  Often this advocate is the only one in the child's life who pushes them and encourages them to succeed in what they want and stand by them during tough times.  The impact this one person can have on a child’s life is an amazing thing and I want to support these angels on earth who are making a massive difference for these children and society as a whole.
