Young Idyllwild, Inc., is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that serves the mountain  communities surrounding Idyllwild, California in Riverside County’s 3rd District under Supervisor Chuck Washington.  Young Idyllwild was founded in 2016 with the mission of creating ways to bring the community members closer together, across age groups, across experience levels, across their history and talents to create a place where they could mentor and share traditional and modern skills with each other.

Everyone of all ages is invited to participate in our programs and we encourage cross-generational interaction to pass along knowledge and expertise in all of our project areas: trade skills such as carpentry and gardening, event production, radio station operation, food sufficiency. Participating in these programs instills greater self-confidence and provides valuable, marketable skills that will enable them to care of themselves, their families, and their fellow community members.

The Idyllwild Community Garden & Education Center began in 2016 as a small garden plot on donated land at the corner of North Circle Drive and Alderwood Street near downtown Idyllwild.  The intent was obvious: provide our community with the opportunity to gain knowledge and hands-on skills to successfully cultivate edible gardens in our mountain environment. Our future goals include site expansion, securing a parcel purchase, and expanding our programs to provide a richer, deeper educational experience for all.

The principles upon which The Idyllwild Community Garden project is based include sustainability, land stewardship and the protection of natural resources for a secure future.

Young Idyllwild, and its programs, is the only of its kind within 50 miles.
