For 20 years, I served in law-enforcement. I was one of the fortunate ones, I was able to end my career alive. But throughout those two decades, I attended far too many funerals of colleagues that were not so fortunate.
For the last 22 years, I have participated in the Cycle Across Illinois; a memorial and fundraising bicycle ride across our state. Over these years I have seen firsthand the devastating aftermath of a line of duty death. It does just end a career it shatters lives.
The Cycle Across Illinois covers about 350 miles over four days. We stop along the way to hold memorial services and meet with families who have lost so much. These moments remind us why we ride: to ensure that no survivor ever has to walk their journey of grief alone.
I truly believe in this cause, and after 22 years of riding, I have seen the difference these funds make. Membership in ILCOPS is free because the price these families have already paid is too high.
Your donation, in any amount, helps provide the resources needed to rebuild shattered lives. Please help me honor our fallen and support those they left behind.
