I Would Rather Be Reading (IWRBR) is a Louisville-based nonprofit dedicated to creating equitable access to trauma-responsive literacy support and social-emotional learning for K–5 students. Through our Educate & Elevate program, we provide reading tutoring, SEL support, and enriching, hands-on experiences that help children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We serve 120 students during the school year and nearly 350 in the summer, focusing on building not only strong readers and problem-solvers, but also confident, compassionate young people. How Donations HelpYour gift directly fuels the work we do every day to empower students:Tutoring & Academic Support – Funding helps us provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in reading, ensuring every child receives the personalized attention they need to succeed.Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) – Donations support the integration of daily SEL lessons, helping students develop resilience, empathy, and positive communication skills.Enrichment Opportunities – Contributions make it possible to offer field trips, STEM activities, arts programs, and other experiences that expand learning beyond the classroom.Staff & Volunteer Training – Funds allow us to train our team in trauma-responsive practices, ensuring every child is supported in a safe, caring environment.Supplies & Resources – Gifts provide books, learning materials, healthy snacks, and essential program supplies to keep our students engaged and thriving.Every dollar you give helps bridge gaps in access and opportunity, ensuring our students have the tools, confidence, and community they need to reach their fullest potential. Together, we can create brighter futures—one child at a time.
