In the Works: A Young Choreographers’ Showcase is an evening celebrating the creativity, courage, and emerging voices of young dancers in our Bay Area Dance School community. Throughout the week, dancers ages 6–13 have been creating their own choreography: developing ideas, experimenting with music and movement, rehearsing, and revising. Tonight, September 27, 2026, from 6 to 7pm at Bay Area Dance School, they’ll share original pieces that reflect their imagination, dedication, and individual artistic voices.
Admission is free so every family can join us in celebrating these young artists. For those who are able, we invite you to make a donation that carries the generosity of this evening into our wider community. All proceeds will support LifeMoves’ Georgia Travis House Women's Shelter in San Jose.
Bay Area Dance School gives young dancers opportunities to strengthen their technique, explore choreography, and build confidence in their own ideas. Experiences like this showcase let students take part in the full creative process, from experimenting with movement to rehearsing and sharing their work onstage. As a dancer at BADS, I’m grateful that the school offers children the guidance, encouragement, and space to grow as both dancers and choreographers.
LifeMoves is a local nonprofit that helps individuals and families experiencing homelessness work toward stable housing through interim shelter and supportive services. Its Georgia Travis House provides shelter and services for families and single adult women. By combining a safe place to stay with personalized support, LifeMoves helps residents build lasting stability and independence.
Every donation, of any size, supports this work and helps our young dancers experience how the arts can bring people together to care for their neighbors. Thank you for celebrating their creativity and helping them give back to our community.
