Supporting My Neighbors Through Highlands Community Ministries
I’m proud to support Highlands Community Ministries during Give For Good Louisville because I’ve seen firsthand the impact they have in our neighborhood. As a member of a supporting congregation, I’ve been able to join in food and clothing drives that directly help families in need.
Beyond providing essentials like food, financial assistance, and youth and senior programs, HCM also creates community. I’ve enjoyed the events and shared spaces they offer — from meaningful gatherings to joyful celebrations like the Drag Revival — which make the Highlands feel more connected and welcoming.
I’m giving because I believe in the power of community and compassion. Every donation helps HCM continue offering care, dignity, and opportunities for our neighbors. I’d love for you to join me in supporting their incredible work.

Woven Together: Neighbors Helping Neighbors
At Highlands Community Ministries (HCM), we believe no one weaves this life alone.
Every week, we meet neighbors facing real crises—families on the edge of eviction, seniors choosing between groceries and medicine, parents working full-time yet unable to keep the lights on. Through our Individual & Family Assistance Program (IFAP), we provide emergency financial relief and food support so people can stay housed, stay safe, and stay connected.
This work doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it happens in community. It happens at the Highlands Community Campus, a repurposed church building that now houses not only our food pantry and senior services, but also partners like Unity of Louisville, Kentucky Refugee Ministries ESL classes, and Drag Daddy Productions. The space itself is a loom—and you, our neighbors, are the threads that give it life.
This Give for Good Louisville, we’re raising $25,000 to ensure our emergency assistance and food support can continue uninterrupted.
When you give, you’re not just helping a stranger—you’re strengthening the fabric that holds this neighborhood together.
Real Stories, Real Neighbors:
Barbara, a retired nurse, came to HCM after losing her job due to health issues. We helped her with rent and food. Today, she’s back on her feet—managing a wound care unit—and donates personal care items to give back.
Jane, a single mother, was hospitalized and fell behind on rent. She debated returning to work early—despite doctor’s orders—just to avoid eviction. Our support allowed her to rest, recover, and stay housed with her children.
John, now a history professor, relied on wraparound support from HCM during times of crisis. He credits the stability he received for helping him pursue his dreams.

Give now—and know that if you were ever in need, your neighbors would be here for you, too.
