Dr. Bobby Smith II: MANRRS 40 Under 40 Fundraiser

In this final week of Black History Month, I am incredibly honored to announce that I have been named a National MANRRS 40 Under 40 Honoree, recognizing members under 40 who have risen to become transformative leaders across global industries in agriculture, natural resources, and related sciences. We will be recognized at the 40th MANRRS Annual Training Conference and Career Expo in Dallas, Texas, in April. 

I first learned about the organization from my sister, who was a national officer (2005-2006) and president of the Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) MANRRS chapter (2003-2005). Upon entering PVAMU in Fall 2007, majoring in agriculture with a concentration in Agricultural Economics, I immediately joined the MANRRS chapter, where I learned about professional development in the agricultural industry and made lifelong friends and mentors. I served as President of the PV Chapter from 2008 until I became SGA president in 2010. 

Indeed, MANRRS changed my life, and I am forever grateful to the organization for creating an intentional space of empowerment for generations of minorities, in general, and Black people, in particular, to be exposed to the power of working to change the face of agriculture and the food industries worldwide. 

Being named a MANRRS 40 Under 40 honoree is more than recognition; it is a call to action. Each honoree has committed to contributing to the collective impact of MANRRS' Annual Giving Campaign, with a goal of raising or contributing $1,000 in support of MANRRS' mission, which impacts current and future generations of agriculture students. This shared investment fuels scholarships, leadership training, mentorship, and workforce development programs that prepare the next generation of talent.
