WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS?
Despite the College of Veterinary Medicine’s efforts to keep tuition increases under 1% over the past decade, we now face ongoing challenges at both the state and federal levels.
Programs like the Summer Scholars—which have been sustained largely through federal funding for the past 12 years—are now facing significant funding cuts. Continued philanthropic support is essential to ensure that DVM students have access to meaningful research opportunities that strengthen their scientific training and advance the future of veterinary medicine.
At the same time, many veterinary students are working part-time just to afford school, leaving less time for research, clinical training, and hands-on learning that shape great veterinarians.
These growing challenges require immediate support to ensure that financial barriers don’t limit opportunity, innovation, or access to veterinary education.
YOUR GIFT TODAY OPENS DOORS for FUTURE VETERINARIANS
Scholarships enable students to focus on their studies, clinical rotations, and community service without the stress of financial strain.
The Summer Scholars Program gives first- and second-year DVM students 12 weeks of full-time, paid research experience. Guided by faculty mentors, students explore challenges in animal, public, and human health while gaining skills that advance veterinary medicine. Your support keeps these transformative research opportunities accessible to all aspiring veterinarians.
“The Summer Scholars Program was a pivotal experience that opened doors I hadn’t previously considered and shaped the trajectory of my career.”— Katie Anderson, DVM, PhD, DACVIM (SAIM)Assistant Professor, University of Wisconsin–Madison; former Summer Scholars Program participant
