Highlands Youth Recreation (HYR) is more than sports. It’s kids building friendships, confidence, and community through affordable recreation in the heart of Louisville.

Last year, HYR provided 2,290 registrations for youth across our community — giving kids a place to play, grow, and belong. From soccer to field hockey to basketball, HYR offers opportunities for every child, regardless of background or experience.

Your gift to HYR through Give for Good Louisville helps us:

  • Keep registration fees low so no child is turned away

  • Provide equipment and uniforms for families who need support

  • Maintain safe fields, courts, and equipment

  • Expand programs so more kids can participate

When you support HYR, you’re investing in the next generation of teammates, leaders, and neighbors.

CTA: Give today and help us reach our goal of $3,000 so even more kids can get in the game.

Woven Together: Neighbors Helping Neighbors

At Highlands Community Ministries (HCM), we believe no one weaves this life alone.

Every week, we meet neighbors facing real crises—families on the edge of eviction, seniors choosing between groceries and medicine, parents working full-time yet unable to keep the lights on. Through our Individual & Family Assistance Program (IFAP), we provide emergency financial relief and food support so people can stay housed, stay safe, and stay connected.

This work doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it happens in community. It happens at the Highlands Community Campus, a repurposed church building that now houses not only our food pantry and senior services, but also partners like Unity of Louisville, Kentucky Refugee Ministries ESL classes, and Drag Daddy Productions. The space itself is a loom—and you, our neighbors, are the threads that give it life.

This Give for Good Louisville, we’re raising $25,000 to ensure our emergency assistance and food support can continue uninterrupted.

When you give, you’re not just helping a stranger—you’re strengthening the fabric that holds this neighborhood together.

Real Stories, Real Neighbors:

Barbara, a retired nurse, came to HCM after losing her job due to health issues. We helped her with rent and food. Today, she’s back on her feet—managing a wound care unit—and donates personal care items to give back.

Jane, a single mother, was hospitalized and fell behind on rent. She debated returning to work early—despite doctor’s orders—just to avoid eviction. Our support allowed her to rest, recover, and stay housed with her children.

John, now a history professor, relied on wraparound support from HCM during times of crisis. He credits the stability he received for helping him pursue his dreams.

Help us raise $25,000 to strengthen the safety net in our neighborhood. Whether you give $10 or $100, your donation is a thread in the tapestry of care we’re weaving together.

Give now—and know that if you were ever in need, your neighbors would be here for you, too.
