Why I'm Walking 

I  am walking for the incredible women who have faced adversity while holding onto hope, whose unwavering love has been a source of strength for so many, including myself. I stand united with the voices that lifted me in my times of doubt, the hands that offered healing, and the hearts that filled my life with warmth and kindness. I walk for the nurturing mothers, caring aunts, and steadfast guardians, and for the adopted mothers who brought comfort and healing, no matter the distance. Justice transcends mere distribution; it often calls for restoration, shining through the vibrant lives of those we champion, in their laughter, their resilience, and the inspiring light they bring to the world. I walk in the powerful space where hope meets determination, carrying their love, courage, and strength with every passionate step, every heartfelt breath, and every unwavering heartbeat. Together, we can forge a movement that embraces and uplifts all those we stand for.

Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc. is celebrating 10 years of establishing the global Black Maternal Health movement. For a decade, BMMA has strengthened Black-led perinatal, maternal, and reproductive health organizations and the Black perinatal workforce, alongside advancing policy, narrative, and systems change to address maternal health care inequities

Why This Matters

In a climate where reproductive health access is restricted and families face ongoing surveillance and punitive systems; maternal health care inequities continue to disproportionately harm Black women and birthing people.

Black Mamas are not waiting. They are organizing, building, and leading toward liberation unapologetically. When we invest in Black Mamas, we are strengthening the foundations of Black families and systems of care.
