myTalk Diaper Drive for Hurricane Melissa Victims
Hurricane Melissa has made landfall in Jamaica, and caused catastrophic damage.
At myTalk we feel called to help, and just like we’ve been doing since 2017, we want to continue our mission of donating to a local diaper bank at this time of need.
When devastating events happen, some of the hardest hit people are moms and their young ones. And diaper banks can provide baby supplies and formula to those who need them most.
To help out the impacted families in Jamaica, we’re partnering with the Fort Lauderdale Diaper Bank who have a direct connection to the Jamaican communities. They have the resources and buying power to take our donations and really help people out.
Thank you to Ungerman Restoration for matching the first $2,000 we raise for this organization.
More information about The Greater Fort Lauderdale Diaper Bank:
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Diaper Bank was founded on October 13th, 2014, by Brittany and Dwayne Wolfe due to a lack of social support for new mothers. Brittany is a social worker and was having a difficult time finding diapers for her patients. With the help of our Mommy and Me group, Broward Moms Incorporated, we began assisting individuals with diapers, creating the only diaper Pantry in South Florida at the time.
In September 2016, we started assisting several other nonprofits and officially became the Greater Fort Lauderdale Diaper Bank.
Broward Moms Incorporated, doing business as The Greater Fort Lauderdale Diaper Bank, is raising funds to support families in Jamaica impacted by Hurricane Melissa. We are collecting monetary donations to purchase and ship essential supplies including baby diapers, wipes, adult briefs, and incontinence products to those affected by the storm.
Our mission is to provide dignity and comfort through access to essential hygiene items. During this time of crisis, we are extending that mission beyond Broward County to help our neighbors in Jamaica recover and rebuild. Every dollar raised will go directly toward purchasing and transporting critical supplies to communities in need.
This effort is especially close to our hearts, as our President is from Jamaica and remains deeply connected to the island. Together, we can bring relief and hope to families recovering from this disaster.
