I first got involved with NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire back in 2008 after reading an article in REALTOR® Magazine titled Meet the Families of Foreclosure. That article inspired me to volunteer with NWSNH, which led to my participation in the real estate agent portion of their weekend home buyer seminars.
What stood out to me right away was how much knowledge and confidence NWSNH’s homebuyer education program gave people as they prepared to buy a home. These were hardworking families trying to understand the homebuying process, and NWSNH gave them practical guidance, support, and hope. Over the years, I was fortunate to make lifelong connections with families I was privileged to help find affordable housing.
I also served on their Finance Committee during the foreclosure crisis and saw firsthand the compassion and grace NWSNH showed homeowners during an incredibly difficult and scary time. Their foreclosure prevention programs helped so many people navigate circumstances they never expected to face.
As the housing market began to recover, I participated in their West Granite Revitalization project, which helped lift up a neighborhood while creating affordable housing opportunities for people living below the median income.
I have continued to support NWSNH as a member of the Resource Development Committee and have watched the organization grow beyond Greater Manchester, into the southern New Hampshire region for real estate development and all the way up to the Lakes Region for homeownership education and counseling, all while staying true to its mission.
I’m honored to have recently joined the Board of Directors and look forward to continuing to support NWSNH, their dedicated team, and the individuals and families across southern New Hampshire who need access to quality, affordable housing.
