Secure Building & Annual Operating Expenses

Why Denmark-West Alumni Association Inc. needs to raise $150,000 This Year.  

Denmark-West Alumni Association Inc. was founded to preserve the legacy of Denmark-West School and to continue its spirit of service, education, and community empowerment long after the school itself closed its doors. Our mission has always been rooted in giving back—creating programs for youth, supporting underprivileged families, and providing a place where history, mentorship, and community can thrive together.

At the inception of the organization, we were deeded a building with the vision that it would serve as a community center—a physical home where alumni, residents, and youth could gather, learn, and grow. That building was meant to be the heartbeat of our work.

Unfortunately, that vision has not been able to be realized.

Without the knowledge or consent of the broader organization, the building was rented out by the then-President to a school and a church that are not affiliated with Denmark-West Alumni Association Inc. As a result, we currently have practically no access to the very building that was designated to serve as our community center. The space intended for youth programs, alumni meetings, tutoring, workshops, and community outreach has been unavailable to us for many years..

Today, Denmark-West Alumni Association Inc. operates without a permanent home.

Yet, despite this challenge, our work has not stopped. We continue to organize programs, host events, support youth initiatives, and serve our community—often renting space, borrowing facilities, or operating wherever we can. These temporary solutions come with ongoing costs and limit how much more we can do.

That is why, in 2026, our goal is to raise $150,000.

These funds are critical for two purposes:

To acquire a building that we can fully control and designate as the Denmark-West Alumni Community Center—a safe, accessible, and consistent space for youth programs, alumni engagement, meetings, mentorship, and community services.

To support annual operating expenses, including utilities, insurance, maintenance, programming costs, and administrative needs, ensuring the organization remains sustainable and compliant while expanding its impact.

A building is more than bricks and walls. It is stability. It is visibility. It is the ability to serve without interruption and to build long-term programs that change lives. It is a place where Denmark-West’s legacy is not only remembered, but actively lived out every day.

By helping us reach our $150,000 goal, donors are not just funding a facility—they are restoring access, rebuilding a vision that was delayed, and investing in a future where Denmark-West Alumni Association Inc. can fully serve the community as it was always meant to.
