I've had the joy of serving in my church's English as a Second Language (ESL) program for the last few years, witnessing students improve their English conversation skills, find community in which they are known and cared for, and meet Jesus - the One who cares for them the most.

Over the years, many ESL students have moved back to Japan and have had a difficult time finding community to encourage them in their faith. This unfortunately isn’t surprising, as only 1% of the Japanese population identifies as Christian.

In March, I will travel to Tokyo and Nagoya to reconnect with previous ESL students and partner with the Christ Bible Institute to provide programming that encourages believers in their home country and gives opportunities for others to learn about the good news of Jesus.
