Silly String's Had a Medical Emergency

Silly String recently arrived from a rural shelter where she was found as a stray. Life was definitely rough for Silly String. One day she was fine, the next morning she had a gaping wound near her tail - she had an abscess that ruptured. The abscess was huge, the size of two checkers side by side, exposing her tissue, muscle, and bone. It's possible she was shot with a BB at some point and it became infected. The photo above was after it was cleaned up, scroll down for the original photo - viewer discretion advised. She'll need a long course of antibiotics and rechecks at the vet to make sure the infection is subsiding and the wound is healing and closing.
