Kitten season is upon us! While that usually means moms raising their kittens, sometimes due to tragedy or unknown circumstances, kittens end up all alone outside. These kittens need quick intervention to live - minutes count when kittens are left without a food or heat source.
Little Smid (pictured right) was found wandering around a college campus in southern Virginia, crying. The students who found him kept watch to see if his mom came for him, but she didn't. They urgently reached out for help because he wasn't eating on his own. No one knew how long he'd been on his own without food and at less than a pound, he was incredibly fragile. We were able to scoop him up and start providing bottle feeding.
Dandelion (pictured left) was found on someone's porch in rural southwestern Virginia a few days ago, her mom never returned to nurse or move her out of the elements. Luckily, the local shelter reached out to us for help as the shelter isn't equipped to house adult cats, let alone bottle babies who need so much more care and attention.
Your support helps us say yes to these fragile kittens when minutes matter. Kittens without their mother are already starting at a disadvantage so we need to be ready to provide them extra care and support they need to survive and thrive.
