I am participating in the Ride Across Illinois for IL COPS as the wife of Sgt. Tyler Bailey.
On December 29, 2021, Tyler responded to what seemed like a routine noise complaint at a hotel. During that call, Tyler and his sergeant, Marlene, were shot. Tyler was critically wounded, and Sergeant Marlene tragically later succumbed to her injuries.
Our lives changed forever that night. While Tyler survived, the road to recovery has been long and challenging, and our hearts remain with Sergeant Marlene’s family, whose sacrifice reminds us daily of the risks law enforcement officers take to protect their communities.
I am riding in honor of Sergeant Marlene, in support of Tyler, and for every officer and family whose lives have been impacted by violence in the line of duty. Organizations like IL COPS provide critical support to officers and their families after traumatic incidents, offering resources, care, and community when it is needed most.
By participating in Ride Across Illinois, I hope to raise funds to ensure that no officer or family has to face these challenges alone. Your support helps provide the assistance, healing, and support that so many in the law enforcement community depend on.
Thank you for helping me turn something painful into something purposeful.
