I have been participating with this group of bicycle friends since 2009 raising money for cancder research and support for patients and families. Susan joined with me in 2021. We have lost several members of our families to cancer and current family members that were diagnosed with cancder are in full remission. I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma cancer that was found by accident in Janruary of 2022. I was refered to the Prisma Cancer center for treatments..
Because of research there are now immunotherapy drugs that stimulate the your body's immune system to fight off cancer. One such drug, Keytruda, is being used to treat several different cancers. It is also used with other cancer treatments. This drug was used along with radiation and surgery to remove the melanoma from my achilles tendon. Today I am in full remission. I don't use the words cancer free or cured.
