3/2/2026 UPDATE

A huge, huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We wanted to let everyone know that we are well on our way to rebuilding the nursery -- we're working with a builder who is hoping to be out at the Edmonston Farm by mid-March.

We've had some other funders reach out with offers of support, too. We'll be posting updates about final fundraising numbers here and on our website towards the end of March. Any funds raised over the initial amounts we estimated that we'd need for nursery repairs will go towards repairing other weather-damaged infrastructure on the farm -- old pipes, another high tunnel that needs new plastic, and other utility and infrastructure upgrades to prevent future weather related damage. We'll make sure to let you all know what your money is going towards here at ECO.

We truly can't thank you enough for your support and hope to be seeding inside of our new nursery soon!

Thank you,

Maddie

Farm manager

ORIGINAL POST

Urgent!! Please help ECO rebuild our collapsed nursery!

$25,000 is needed immediately to continue producing healthy food this 2026 season. A rebuilt nursery will allow us to weather the future storms and perils of climate change that come our way.

We require about:

  • $2500 to demolish and remove our old nursery;

  • $1500 to Replace materials like shelves and heating mats;

  • $3,500 to replace  critical electrical fixtures and wiring damaged in the collapse, and;

  • $12,500 to purchase and delivery of  a new nursery kit, complete with added wind and snow bracing;

  • $5,000 for additional materials and farm staff labor as needed.

What happened: On January 26, 2026 ECO City lost the heart of our operations: our 3,000 square foot Plant-Start Nursery (home to 15-year-old Rosie the Cat) collapsed from accumulated snow and ice. This 15-year old structure made our year-round CSA possible. It generated seedlings for our Earth Day seedling sale, and supported and enabled virtually every other educational program and revenue-generating activity at ECO City Farms. One of our 2025 graduating new farmers just received a grant to start a new seedlings business there!

ECO’s nursery’s must be replaced asap!

We turn to valued members of our community like you to help us purchase a kit and construct a new nursery as soon as possible this Spring. $25,000 is a significant unplanned expense for our farm to take on. However, with the love and help of our friends, a little elbow grease, and plenty of upcycling, we know we can get back on track growing healthy, toxin-free food for you, our community, again soon.
