🍑 Making Healthcare Accessible for All Georgians

I've served on the board of Georgians for a Healthy Future for four years now. They are a unique organization strategically working to make the ability to lead a healthy life accessible to all Georgians--no matter what their zip code, income level, immigration status, disability status, or anything else.

This is a tough time for many nonprofits. If you'd like to see more of GHF's top-notch advocacy and education work, I hope you'll join me in supporting them.

Some recent milestones for GHF include: 

• Last month, GHF released this new mental health parity dashboard. It includes a thorough analysis of how well insurance companies are--or are not--following the Georgia Mental Health Parity Act. This dashboard holds insurance companies accountable for following the law and shows progress over time.

• GHF has been the leading consumer voice in Georgia, urging state leaders to address rising premiums for individuals and families purchasing their health insurance through Georgia Access. GHF published this report about Georgia Access and the policy options available to lawmakers to address rising premiums. 

• GHF played a leading role in defeating a proposed state law that would have made it harder for eligible Georgians (mostly children) to get enrolled and stay enrolled in Medicaid. Similar laws have passed in other states, but GHF worked with partners to make sure Georgia families could avoid those extra hardships. 

• GHF is the first and only organization to make Georgia’s lawmakers aware that they have the power to directly help Georgians with the rising costs of health insurance premiums. We released this great report that outlined several possible solutions, including a Georgia-based subsidy to lower monthly premiums.
