Ever since my first overnight camping trip as a boy, I have loved time spent in the wilderness. From canoeing lakes and rivers to hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail, New England has vast resources of wilderness to enjoy. But in past 50 years loss of habitat through human encroachment has caused a catastrophic decline in biodiversity. It was for this reason that when I moved to New Hampshire, I volunteered as a board member of the Amherst Land Trust.

Being an all-volunteer 501c3 organization, the ALT has the independence and expertise to work with landowners, developers and towns to help secure protection of lands. Sometimes protection comes in the form of generous land donations. When preventing development is not possible, we use conservation easements to reduce developable areas by carving out portions for public access and to protect the land in perpetuity.

100% of your donation goes to saving land we love in perpetuity. Please join me in supporting the Trust though a donation via NH Gives.
