The Wood County Humane Society exists to be a community leader providing services and resources that enrich the relationship between animals and humans through advocacy, education, and animal welfare.
During these unprecedented times, there is no higher priority than the safety of our staff, volunteers, visitors, and our animals. For this reason, many of our normal daily duties have ceased, as we have moved the pets in our care into foster homes and have transitioned staff to work from the safety of their homes.
While the shelter is closed to the general public, staff are still working to intake animal emergencies (which could require costly medical care), offer adoptions to keep foster space available for pets in need, offer pet food assistance to our community, general building/utility/maintenance costs, and the daily costs that continue to incur in the basic care that is provided to our pets while they are in foster (food, supplies, medical).
We have been forced to rethink and reschedule several events this year due to Covid-19. These events greatly assist with funding our daily operations and our ability to provide care for the most vulnerable population is dependent on your continued support; we need you now more than ever as we hope for the best but continue to prepare for the worst. We thank you in advance for your support of Wood County Humane Society!
