Grief Is Universal. Support Should Be, Too.
Death touches every life. It’s the one experience we all share—yet when it comes to grief, too many are left to navigate the pain alone. And grief support is one of the most underfunded areas in mental health.
YOU CAN HELP CHANGE THAT.
This page was created out of gratitude by people who have received a lifeline from COJ. When we experienced the death of a loved one, our lives felt as if they were unraveling. It was a confusing time, one filled with conflicting and confusing emotions.
Each of our grief experiences were unique, and it was sometimes hard for friends and family members to fully understand what we were going through. This is where Companions on a Journey came in. They walked beside us, giving us a community of those who understood. Our grief support groups were absolutely what put us on a path to HOPE, STRENGTH, and HEALING.
Grief support isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. COJ provides grief support to adults through 10 monthly (loss-specific) groups, a family group for parents and children to grieve together, and monthly school groups in over 65 area schools - all at no cost to the grieving.
Grief support should not be a footnote in mental health care. Let’s fund it like the lifeline it truly is.
