The mission of Center for Success Network  is to unite community and literacy to empower students in their journey of education. At the heart of our collaboratively rich programs are the meaningful connections cultivated between students and mentors, partnerships with families and community stakeholders, and individualized literacy interventions designed to support each student's unique needs. Together we ignite a passion for education that enables students to thrive academically and discover their lifelong love of learning through reading.

Since its founding in 2013, the Center for Success has grown into a Network of 7 locations from Pontiac to Detroit that serve nearly 350 students 4 days each week through the school year and summer. More than 280 committed mentors are trained and engaged in weekly sessions to deliver individualized lessons to each student. Each Center for Success site engages program partners to bring additional activities and projects that spark our students’ drive to succeed.

Our collaborative success boasts improved reading proficiency, substantiates our impact within Detroit and Pontiac schools and neighborhoods, and amplifies the collective community’s capacity to transform the future of its children.

Center for Success expects to strengthen and diversify our impact on Detroit and Pontiac children, their families and a community that is zealous about attaining transformation through literacy proficiency. Our expanded significance within our community will optimize the scope of literacy capacity citywide.

Inside the realm of today’s global pandemic, the Center remains dedicated to ensuring that the specific needs and desires of students and their families are heard and accurately addressed. We’ve made a declaration to ‘transform the norm’ since ‘normal’ will never return. While we will continue using traditional methods of supporting our students’ literacy skills, we are also adopting new strategies that address discoveries that we’ve made beneath the angst of life amid the COVID-19 epidemic, including the development of:

  • Enhanced interactive virtual learning content
  • Vital parent engagement events
  • Cooperative meeting spaces
  • Additional collaborative partnerships with local non-profit, education, business and arts and culture sectors
