For those of you who are new to the firm within the last couple of years, Food Frenzy is a food drive competition to help raise funds for Food Lifeline - a local organization with a mission to feed people facing hunger today and end hunger for tomorrow. By sourcing millions of pounds of excess food from farmers, manufacturers, grocery stores and restaurants, they create more than 213,000 meals everyday by distributing that food through their network of more than 400 food banks, shelters and meal programs.
Food Frenzy directly raises funds for Food Lifeline to combat summertime hunger. Summer should be a time to relax but for far too many kids and families, summer only exacerbates food insecurity in our communities. When kids are away from school, many lose access to free meals, putting a strain on budgets already stretched thin. And this summer, between inflation and the end of pandemic related SNAP benefits, feeding families will be even more difficult. Households in Washington lost an average of $171 a month in benefits this spring.
