Trans Girls of Color Fellow
"This movement has progressed in the past year due to the immobility of the world. Which forced us to move digital and media only if we wanted to be social. Launching some great and powerful programs and initiatives by staying true to GSA Network's commitment to center Black and Browns and Indigenous trans folks. We launched not only three major projects centering BIPOC which is so needed in a time of crisis. We were reminded that we are our strongest when we fight side by side. Through this year and the next and so on we will continue to thrive and our fight towards Trans Liberation and gender justice. With the help of the community and allies alike, we will be able to reach the unreachable. So join us on the road to a brighter and safer future for all."

LuzMarina Serrano
Lead Organizer, Two-Spirit Initiative and National Alliances

"This year birthed a new movement. We were reminded time and time again of the brilliance of young people and the power of community. Coming together and pushing towards a better tomorrow became imperative. At GSA Network, fed off the movement, we have moved towards building a Two Spirit movement. This year we started to shine the light on our indigenous relatives. Please join in resisting colonization and existing in our truth."

Cathy Chu
Director of Youth Organizing

"During the pandemic, our on-the-ground work turned into national online spaces to connect with trans queer youth and GSA advisors from all over the US and even internationally. We heard reports of young people organizing online to fight the anti-trans bills and GSAs starting in the midst of a pandemic. In California, we built genuine relationships with youth leaders who willingly tuned into virtual meetings after a day of online schooling to learn and strategize to fight for police free schools and inclusive sex education. That's the kind of Pride we celebrate!"

Geoffrey Winder
Co-Executive Director

"LGBTQ youth faced many challenges this past year, including the closure of schools and in-person GSA clubs; and some facing harsh and unwelcoming home environments. Despite this, many trans and queer youth stayed engaged, created virtual communities and found new ways to communicate with each other. This pride we celebrate their existence - innovation, persistence, brilliance and continued resistance."
