The National Silhouettes in support of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated have pledge to donate to this worthwhile cause. In 2019, The National Silhouettes donated over $15,000 to St. Jude!
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.
St. Jude has always had a unique relationship with the African American community. In fact, it was built by famous architect, Paul Williams, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. In 1962, when it opened its doors, St. Jude was the only fully integrated pediatric hospital in the South. With nearly 40% of its patients being African American, it is truly living up to its promise to treat all kids, regardless of race, religion, or the family’s ability to pay. Finally, St. Jude was the first institution to find a cure for Sickle Cell disease with a bone marrow transplant and has one of the largest Sickle Cell clinics in the country.
