Together, we can transform the lives of vulnerable refugees in Detroit and throughout Michigan.

"This picture brings back so many emotions. The journey was so long, scary... and exhausting. For me as a father, to see my family in these conditions, it broke my heart. There were so many unknowns coming to Michigan, but we knew it had to be better than what we came from, so that gave us hope.

When we arrived, we were still overwhelmed but it was different. We are now building a life instead of escaping one."    Zain, New Americans Refugee

The world is in the midst of the worst refugee crisis in history with 84 million people displaced from their homes. The United States has committed to resettle 125,000 refugees - the highest level in several decades.

By 2025, Samaritas expects to help over 6,000 of these vulnerable refugees statewide.

In Metro Detroit alone, Samaritas will serve 1,750 newly arriving refugees, and provide extended care for an additional 2,500 Ukrainians, Afghans and refugees from many countries already in our program.

Your support helps welcome refugees, provide emergency housing, medical care, employment assistance, and assist with English as a second language…All within the first 90 days.

For the refugees in our program, your support helps 94% achieve self-sufficiency within 180 days.

When you support Samaritas, you help to create a pathway to peace, home and community for vulnerable refugees, like Zain’s family. You can help transform lives today. Please Join Us!

"As a refugee myself, working on this refugee resettlement project has been a wonderful and humbling experience. I have been given the opportunity to pay it forward by helping these families restart their lives, from assisting in furnishing their new homes and helping the clients move in, to creating resumes and driving clients to job fairs, to coordinating information sessions on understanding leases and the moving out process. I am so grateful I have been able to go on this journey and see the impact that our work has on these families."

"Working with the refugees allowed me the opportunity to make connections with a group I couldn’t imagine I would have had been able to before. There are families that I know will stay in touch with and continue to see their story develop in the future as they become more settled in the US. I learned a lot about myself in the process as well and found strengths I would have never been able to find working my day to day Rocket role."

"This has been an amazing opportunity. We've met some great people. It's been a learning experience. There are a lot of things I didn't know, just not being privy to another culture, not knowing how they do things, not knowing the hardships they endured coming to our country."
