The mission of the Salt Lake Men's Choir is to:
- Promote and expand men's choral literature as an art form
- Cultivate skills in choral singing
- Provide opportunities for self-expression
- Build bridges of understanding and tolerance among diverse communities through music
- Provide positive social and spiritual support for its members
The Salt Lake Men's Choir recently celebrated our 30th anniversary as one of Utah's oldest member-supported arts organizations. The choir has provided a safe haven and a place of belonging for many members of the gay community, and has also welcomed straight members among our ranks. One member stated that, after a lifetime of feeling out of place everywhere, he had finally found a place where he belonged, and where he was accepted exactly as he was, no questions asked. That's the hallmark of the choir: we just accept everybody. We provide a family for anyone interested in joining the choir.
The SLMC performs 2-3 major concerts per year, in addition to community performances and other events.
